Right-click on Location Bar to Open any Upper folder

Unlike any traditional file manager, Exp+ File Manager displays a folder path in location bar with not only a string of text, i.e. C:\Program Files\Risingware, but an image bar in which you can left-click or right-click the disk 'C', upper folder 'Program Files', or current folder 'Risingware'. Right-clicking or left-clicking will lead to different results in dual or single window modes.

Dual-window Mode

Step 1 Move cursor onto one of the upper folder buttons in Location Bar, and then a tip will be shown at bottom left corner immediately.



Step 2 Left-click or right-click the upper folder button in location bar.



Step 3

When right-clicking, the upper folder you choose to open will be opened in new tab of the opposite window. In this case, it will be opened in right window.



When left-clicking, the upper folder you choose to open will be opened in current tab. In this case, it will be opened in left window.




Single-window Mode

Step 1 Same as dual-window mode.



Step 2 Same as dual-window mode.



Step 3

When right-clicking, the upper folder you choose to open will be opened in new tab of current window.

Magical Drag & Drop 1: Open Subfolders by Dragging and Dropping to Tab bar

There are so many magical drag-and-drop can be done in Risingware Exp+, whether for file manager or browser. However, they might have not been made good use so far, this is the reason we are introducing them in series.

Do you open several subfolders one by one? Well, you can do this in one action, just drag and drop them to tab bar of one of dual windows. Below is an example for crossing window drag-and-drop.

Step 1
Select subfolders. You can select subfolders individually by clicking on their icons.



Step 2 Drag selected subfolders and cross windows.



Step 3 Drop cursor on the marked area of the opposite window. You can drop it on tab bar, address bar, or any other spot in that area. Dropping it on a tab will have different result.

Instance 1: Cursor on the empty place of tab bar



Instance 2: Cursor on address bar



Note:

Dropping beyond the marked area, like toolbar, will not do the same work.



Step 4 Consequently, the three selected subfolders will be opened respectively in new tabs of the opposite window.

In addition, as mentioned in Step 3, the target tab will be replaced by the first subfolder if there are many subfolders selected in step 1.

Use Mouse Wheel to Switch Tabs in a Millis

Multi-tabbing is nice. Then what? Have you ever given it a thought? How can I do it faster? This is what we want to show you, simply how efficiently you can do to change tabs with mouse wheel.

Some of you may have seen its basic introduction in our help file, titled ‘Moving and Switching Tabs’ and filed under ‘Using Risingware Exp+\Tabs’. Well, with screen captures, its usage becomes more clearly. For people who like using hotkey, we also mention here.

Step 1 Move cursor onto the marked area in one of the dual windows. As you can see, you can move cursor onto a tab, tab bar, address bar, or any other spot in that area.

Instance 1: Cursor on a tab



Instance 2: Cursor on the empty place of tab bar



Instance 3: Cursor on address bar



Instance 4: Cursor on any other spot



Step 2 Scroll the mouse wheel up or down to switch to left or right tab.

Instance 1: Switch to right tab

Simply scroll the mouse wheel down. Keep scrolling, it will switch to the rightest tab and then start from the leftest tab.




Note: you can also click on right arrow at the right corner, or use hotkey Ctrl+PageDown.

Instance 2: Switch to left tab

Simply scroll the mouse wheel up. Keep scrolling, it will switch to the leftest tab and then start from the rightest tab.

Alias of Web Search Engine Is for Special Assignment Now!

Although there is a bunch of web search engines can be activated at the same time in Risingware Exp+, sometimes you just need one or two to do a special assignment. Well, the aliases can be at your service now; you don’t even bother changing the settings.

Before
Press Alt+F5 to open the Web Search Settings dialog. Make sure the aliases have already been set up.


Note: You can see the current checked search engines are Google Search and Yahoo Search, they are for every regular search.


Step 1 At web search bar, type an alias and search keywords.

Format: Alias + one Colon(:)+ Search Keywords

Note: alias always precedes keywords, and both of them are separated by a colon(:). There is no difference whether you put Space between colon(:) and keywords.


In below screen capture, ‘g’ is the alias of Google search, ‘Risingware Exp+’ is the keywords.



If you want to activate more than one search engine, add ‘,’ or ‘;’ between aliases. Here ‘a’ is the alias of Ask.com.






Step 2 Press Enter key or press the Start button at the right corner to command the corresponding search engine to search the web.




After The web search engines corresponding to your aliases, Google Search and Ask.com, will search the web and present the search results to you.

Add a Web Search Engine Besides Default Ones

In Risingware Exp+, if you like, you can add any web search engines which you prefer and is not yet among the default ones, and you'll find doing this is just as easy as it gets.

Step 1
Use hotkey Alt+F5 or left-click the button at the left of search bar, a Web Search Settings dialog will be opened.



Step 2 Press the Add(+) button, the fields in Search Engine area will become editable. Type a name for search engine in [Name] field, then type an alias for search engine in [Alias]* field to appoint specific search engine to execute web searching. Press Confirm button to save the setting. The following steps will lead you to find the accurate URL address to fill in.



Step 3 Type a search engine URL in the address bar of a tab in Risingware Exp+, then press Enter to go to its home page. After that, type any search keyword in the page. Here we take flickr.com for example, type sky as search keyword, then press SEARCH button.



Step 4 Copy the URL address of the search result page.





Step 5 Paste it to [URL Address] field in the Web Search Settings dialog, and then replace the search keyword sky with %s. Finally, press the Confirm button.

3 Secs to Email an Interesting Web Page

When you see an interesting web page, and want to share with friends, or email to yourself, most of the time, you have to send it through an email box. It is a little troublesome, isn’t it? Luckily, you can do this within a few seconds with Web page e-Mailer in Risingware Exp+. This article is written based upon Risingware Exp+ 1.10.

One-time setting of SMTP

Step 1 Press Exp+ Setup Center button at upper Function Key Toolbar, or use hotkey Alt+O, an Exp+ Setup Center dialog will be opened.



Step 2 Switch tab to Web page e-Mailer.

[Server address] and [Port] are required information from email service provider, like Gmail (smtp.gmail.com/465), or public SMTP server ms2.hinet.net with port no. 25. After that, fill in the rest fields. Remember if you are not using public SMTP server, you cannot skip [User name], [Password]. Finally, press the OK button.



Step 3 (Omissible) Switch tab to e-Mail Template, you can uncheck default selected options. If you uncheck [Send as an attachment], Recipients will only receive a thumbnail and a link without .html attachment. If you uncheck [Always Revise template before sending out], the web page will always be sent with a template you set in e-Mail Template. Finally, press the OK button.



How to Use

When the current tab is a web page, press Web Page e-Mailer button at upper Function Key Toolbar or use function key F4. Then, this web page will be directly sent to a friend via email or if [Always Revise template before sending out] is checked, a Web Page e-Mailer dialog will be opened, you can modify those fields. Finally, press the OK button.



And then, your friend will receive an e-Mail like this:
